A week in the sun, without shoes, just sand under our toes. Smiles and happy faces everywhere. No stores. No stress, no clock. We were on “Fiji-time”.:-)
We went to sleep when we where tired, and woke up when the drums rang. It was time for breakfast.:-) Then we hang down at the beach till the drums said “lunch”. Just chilling in the hammock, tanning in the sun, snorkeling at the most amazing reef, or join any of the free activities like bracelet-making, hiking, or fish feeding.
We made some really good friends at Mantaray, and met people we will never forget. We CRIED when we left, and did serious consider to just stay there for the rest of our trip, just drop the whole New Zealand.. That tells a lot.
The first days we had a lot of fun and exitement doing a diving course – a new world really opens up! We saw sharks, sea snakes, octopuses, turtles and a huge mantaray! (the biggest our instructor had ever seen!) As qualified divers Ranveig also did a night dive. Marthe had some problems with her ears, but the night snorkeling was also cool!
Everyday at 4 it was beach volleyball time, and then a swim to cool down and a shower before dinner. Same procedure everyday. What a problem free existence it was! We really enjoyed the food there. And the fruit was so fresh and tasty! Straight from the tree.
We also went on a fishing trip during our time there. Got three big barracudas! Pretty awesome. Unfortunately we didn't got to taste them before we left.
