Alice Springs - Uluru!

One of the things we were most excited about when visiting Australia, was to see the famous Uluru/Ayers Rock!
For that reason only, we decided to have a couple of days in Alice Springs.

Alice Springs was relaxing. The temperature was high, but the air not that humid as in Darwin, so much more Our main activities in this city was:
-Spending hours in the supermarket, the wide selection amazed us.
-Wonder around in aboriginal art galleries – And we actually bought some art!
-Chilling at Annie's Place or at in the park.
Our hostel had cheap food and beer for backpackers!

We booked a one day tour to Uluru and Kata Tjuta, even though we were a little sceptic about only having one day, but it suited us perfectly! The trip was very well organized, our guides did a awesome job! And we travelled together with a bunch of great people.

We couldn't had better guides! The bad and the good one!

It was a long drive, and we had some fun stops on the way.

Mount Connor

A long way ahead! And Marthe looking at the salt lake!

Kata tjuta was our first big stop. There we took a hike up to Walpa Gorge. The landscape was nothing like we have never seen before! It felt like walking on the moon!

Our expectations were really high regarding Uluru. When we finally got there, it was even more beautiful and breath taking than we ever imagined!
There it was, after hours of driving thru dry and flat landscape.
What a sight!
The size, the colors, the patterns, all of it! Indescribable!

After a walk around this amazing rock, it was time to barbecue and celebrate the experience with a glass of champagne! BBQ the Australian way! We enjoyed a good meal in good company, and best of all – The Uluru Sunset!
