Melbourne Part 2

Our superhost – Dave had more exciting plans for our days in Melbourne. We happend to be at the right place to the right time – the next day it was the annual St. Kilda Festival.

A lot of cool band were gonna play there would be a lot of different food stalls, and other fun stuff. It was the biggest happening in St. Kilda, and we lived just a few blocks away from it all. Lucky us.:-)

We had many good laughs that day, Dave have a lot of fun friends! And enjoying great music from a stage right on the beach during an amazing sunset – magical.

Frasier, Marthe, Rahl, Ranveig and Dave ready for St.Kilda festival!

Having fun "behind the scenes" of the food stalls.

Yey!

Dave like most of St. Kilda's inhabitants (except from Rahl) had the day off after St. Kilda. So we hit the car again, this time going north through rainforest and beautiful landscape.

We ate brunch in a small town called Emerald, and took a ride on an old steam train -The puffing Billy to the next town. Were Dave and the car was waiting for us.

Raveig getting her ticket stamped, and we are leaving Dave behind.

It was really an enjoyable ride!

The next stop was Mount Dandenong where we got a great view over Melbourne. After more food we went for a walk among fascinating sculptures in Williams Rickettes Sanctuary. An other perfect day with Dave.:-)

View over Melbourne.

Randoms :-)

Williams Rickettes Sanctuary.

With no guide available the next days it was easy for us to sleep way to long and see way to many episodes of the family guy. So this was a big part of the remaining days in Melbourne, unfortunately. But it was good for both body and soul to relax!

We actually did some sightseeing on our own as well!

We had to check out "the dogs" at a betting place.

Marthe chilling in the park.

Dave gave us flowers on valentines day!

A thank you gift to the boys, for letting us stay there!:-)

(Thanks again!)

Melbourne Part 1

Melbourne, a city we had high expectations to. Once again we were lucky, and had a place to stay. This time we stayed at a friend, Dave and his roommates. Dave was a really good host, our should we say tour guide?

We arrived in the afternoon, so we went out for dinner and some drinks.

Dave and Ranveig enjoying beer!

The next day we were all ready for a road trip! Great Ocean Road, the attraction for the day. We had a long drive in front of us, but it was defiantly worth it! Not only did we see so much on the way, but we also had a lot of fun with car games.

Specially Marthe had a lot of fun in the backseat!

The beginning of the Great Ocean Road.

The weather was a little grey in the beginning of the day

But we were still optimistic!

The twelve apostles

Beautiful!

London Bridge

Windy!

Dave is a world known climber!

Marthe and Ranveig prefer to climb on cars.

On the way home we stopped for some take away; fish and chips. We took the food with us and had a picnic by the waterfall Erskine falls. It was the best way to end a perfect day.

Happy!

Ballarat

You have probably never heard of Ballarat in Australia. Neither had we. This city is about 1 hr north of Melbourne and have approximately 100 000 inhabitants, among them Daryls mum, Gwen.

Ballarat is his hometown and when staying in Brisbane he spoke so warm about it and the main attraction there, Sovereign Hill, that we decided to check it out.

We stayed with Gwen who took so good care of us that we stayed longer than first planned. She drove us around everywhere, made delishes meals for us, and we got to sleep in Daryl's old bed witch even had a duna (we slept like babies).

She didn't only take good care of us, she also took care of the magpies birds!

During the time there we visited a lot of her relatives and friends and a lot of OP shops (like Fretex back home).

And off course Sovereign Hill. Sovereign Hill is an outdoor museum presenting the story of Australia's fabulous goldrush history.

BOWLING:

It was a great they with a lot of fun!

We also had a great time with Daryl's dad “big Daryl” at the dogs when we were there, maybe we are addicted to the greyhounds now?

This time we even won some money! Funfun!

Nanna Gwen – tusen takk.:-)
